Maserati Levante officially unveiled

Maserati has officially unveiled the Levante crossover following a leak earlier today.

 

Set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the Levante has a "distinctive Italian character" as it features an aggressive front fascia with a chrome grille that is flanked by slender headlights and round fog lights. The sporty styling continues further back as model has been equipped with a rakish windscreen, porthole vents, and a sporty roofline. The crossover also features frameless windows, muscular rear haunches, and a “Saetta” badge on the C-pillar.

 

Maserati declined to release technical specifications but said the Levante's "chassis is designed to combine the outstanding on-road performance typical of every Maserati with unrivalled handling even on very low-grip surfaces and an excellent off-road performance and ride." In order to accomplish this, all Levantes will come equipped with an intelligent all-wheel drive system and a special suspension with air springs and electronically controlled dampers.

 

Power will be provided by an assortment of petrol and diesel engines that are connected to a standard eight-speed automatic transmission which has been specially calibrated for the model. Maserati declined to elaborate but today's leak revealed the crossover will be offered with a 3.0-liter V6 that has outputs of 350 horsepower and 430 hp. The entry-level model accelerates from 0-62 miles per hour in 6.3 seconds, while the performance-oriented model accomplishes the same task in 5.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 164 mph.

 

On the diesel side, customers can order a 3.0-liter V6 engine which produces 275 hp. It allows the model to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds before topping out at 143 mph. 

 

The Levante is already in production and Maserati sales European sales will begin in the spring.
