Opel Zafira facelift spied for the first time

The Opel Zafira Tourer was introduced nearly five years ago so the company is preparing a minor facelift for the flagship MPV.

 

Recently caught undergoing testing near the Arctic Circle, the facelifted model has a familiar design but adopts a new front fascia which is expected to follow in the footsteps of the Astra. Camouflages hides most of the changes but the prototype has a new grille and what appears to be restyled headlights. The changes are less noticeable at the back but the production model will likely have a new rear bumper and updated taillights.

 

Interior updates remain a bit of a mystery but the model is expected to feature a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. We can also expect the usual trim and upholstery changes as well as a revised center stack with fewer buttons.

 

Since the Zafira has been largely untouched, the model could be equipped with an assortment of newer engines. Nothing is official at this point but one possible candidate is the Astra's new turbocharged 1.4-liter Ecotec engine that develops 143 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque.
