Mini has introduced the new Clubman ALL4.
Looking virtually identical to the standard model, the Clubman ALL4 has a new all-wheel drive system that features a "power take-off bevel gear on the front axle differential, a dual-section propeller shaft, and a rear axle differential with an electrohydraulically controlled hang-on clutch."
That doesn't sound terribly exciting but Mini says the all-wheel drive system works in combination with the Dynamic Stability Control system so torque can be distributed to the wheels that need it most. The company says this not only improves traction but also improves agility during acceleration and cornering.
In the United States, two different engines will be available. The entry-level model has a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder that develops 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. It can be connected to either a six-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission. With the latter gearbox, the Clubman can accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 9.3 seconds before hitting a top speed of 125 mph.
Moving up to the high-performance S variant rewards buyers with a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 189 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options echo the entry-level variant and vehicles equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission can run from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds before topping out at 140 mph.
