Mini has introduced the new John Cooper Works Convertible.

 

Looking decidedly more aggressive than the standard model, the JCW Convertible has a new front bumper with larger air intakes and honeycomb mesh grille inserts. The model also has LED headlights, a sports exhaust system, and unique 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels. Buyers will also find a power retractable soft top that can be opened or closed in 18 seconds at speeds up to 30 kilometers an hour.

 

The sport styling continues in the cabin as the model has been equipped with Dinamica/fabric sport seats, a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, and a JCW shifter. The model also has a revised instrument cluster, stainless steel pedals, and JCW door sill plates. Other highlights include an air condition system, special trim, and a larger luggage compartment that can hold up to 215 liters (7.6 cubic feet) of cargo.

 

Power is provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 231 horsepower and 320 newton meters of torque. When equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission, the JCW Convertible accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds before hitting a top speed of 242 km/h. With the optional six-speed Steptronic transmission, the car runs from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds before topping out at 240 km/h.

 

Speaking of performance, the JCW Convertible has a sport-tuned suspension, a Brembo braking system and electronic front differential.

 

The Mini JCW Convertible will be priced from $35,600 in the United States excluding destination and handling charges.
