Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain set to battle the Audi A6 Allroad
Mercedes has reportedly confirmed plans to launch an off-road inspired wagon to battle the Audi A6 Allroad.
According to Motoring, the model will be based on the E Class Estate and wear the E Class All-Terrain moniker. The car will reportedly be introduced in September alongside the standard wagon.
European sales are expected to begin by the end of the year but a U.S. launch seems unlikely as Mercedes' Matthias Luhrs has previously said the popularity of crossover-inspired wagons is largely market dependent and Americans simply "don't like station wagons."
There's no word on whether or not Mercedes has also green-lighted a C Class All-Terrain but Luhrs has previously said the company is "obviously" considering it.
Besides confirming plans for an E Class All-Terrain, Mercedes reportedly announced plans to introduce three other models this year. First and foremost, the company is slated to introduce the new C Class Convertible in August. It will reportedly be followed by the GLC Coupe and an upgraded version of the C 450 AMG 4MATIC. The latter model is expected to have minor modifications including a new 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission.
