2017 Ford Fusion spied undisguised ahead of Detroit debut

It's a little chilly to running naked on the streets of Detroit but that hasn't stopped Ford from testing the 2017 Fusion without any camouflage.

 

Set to debut at the North American International Auto Show on Monday, the facelifted model keeps its iconic styling intact but adopts a new front fascia with a revised grille, restyled headlights, and new air intakes. The changes are less noticeable out back but the car has been equipped with a new rear bumper, additional chrome trim and updated taillights.

 

This particular model is a Sport variant and it is distinguished by a rear spoiler and a four-tailpipe exhaust system. It will likely be powered by a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that develops 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

 

A variety of other engines will also be available and choices are expected to include a 1.5-liter EcoBoost with 180 hp and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost with 245 hp. We can also expect to see hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

 

The interior will receive a number of updates and changes are expected to include the addition of a SYNC 3 infotainment system. Buyers can also expect to find higher quality materials and revised switchgear.
