US-spec 2017 Jaguar XE debuts at LA Auto Show with all-wheel drive
The 2017 US-spec Jaguar XE has arrived in Los Angeles and on this occasion it has gained an all-wheel drive system.
Three models will be available stateside, kicking off with the entry-level XE 25t priced from $34,900. It has a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine pushing out 240 bhp (179 kW) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque sent exclusively to the rear wheels. Up next is the XE 20d available from $36,400 with a more economical 2.0-liter turbodiesel Ingenium engine producing 180 bhp (134 kW) and 318 lb-ft (431 Nm) delivered to the rear axle or to an optional AWD.
The XE 35t will be the cream of the crop upon launch at $41,700 with a larger V6 3.0-liter supercharged engine that churns 340 bhp (254 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). You'll be able to order it with both rear- and all-wheel drive systems and Jaguar says it runs the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in 5.1 seconds before topping out at 120 mph (193 km/h). Regardless of engine choice, all versions are equipped with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Besides gaining an all-wheel drive setup sourced from the F-Type, the Jaguar XE also comes with a larger InControl Touch Pro infotainment system hosting a 10.2-inch display and Wi-Fi hotspot support. It has better graphics and uses a 60GB SSD for storage, so it should be blazing fast to use. Another novelty is represented by the adaptive speed limiter along with Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Condition Monitor systems.
The Jaguar XE US-spec is slated to hit stateside dealerships mid-2016. The updated Euro-spec AWD model is already available in UK from ￡26,990 and will start reaching customers at the beginning of the year.
