MINI is reportedly planning a super-hot Clubman JCW to compete against the Ford Focus RS and the likes.

 

We already know an All4 and ‘regular’ JCW Clubman versions are in the works, but a new report indicates an even hotter variant is in the cards and it could feature an uprated 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine.

 

According to AutoExpress, the unit in question is the same that powers the BMW 330i where it produces 249 bhp (186 kW). Our source claims the British company will retune it to deliver 300 bhp (224 kW) for the hardcore JCW model that will also use an all-wheel drive system to transfer power to all four wheels.

 

The hottest MINI in the range is expected to be offered with manual and automatic gearboxes, because “there’s an almost equal 50:50 sales split”, according to the insider.

 

Visually, the Clubman JCW will come with unique alloy wheels, sporty red trim and pumped-up wheel arches, while the LED daytime running lights and bonnet scoop will be carried over from the Cooper S variant.

 

No exact launch date has been revealed, but AE mentions the hot hatch is “at least a couple of years away.”
