BMW i3 Shadow Sport Edition debuts in LA with visual tweaks

The BMW i3 Shadow Sport Edition has been officially revealed in L.A. and will be available exclusively as a battery electric vehicle (BEV).

 

BMW is spicing up its posh city commuter with a limited edition featuring a fresh Fluid Black paint and a moonroof that makes its debut on the US-spec model. The i3 also comes with a sportier setup of the suspension teamed up with 19-inch alloy wheels with a turbine 428 design and wrapped in all-season tires.

 

Changes inside the cabin are rather limited, but we should mention BMW North America will sell the i3 Shadow Sport Edition with a Deka World dark grey theme combined with blue accents.

 

There aren’t any updates in terms of powertrain, so the limited edition i3 is powered by the same electric motor rated at 170 bhp (126 kW) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm). It’s enough electric muscle to enable a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in a decent seven seconds and a 93 mph (149 km/h) top speed. BMW mentions the 22 kWh lithium-ion battery will last for 80 to 100 miles (128 to 160 km) when the car is running on Comfort mode.

 

The BMW i3 Shadow Sport Edition is already available on order in United States only as a battery electric vehicle and carries a starting price of $47,400 MSRP.
