Second generation Porsche Panamera speculatively rendered
Today we bring another high quality render from our colleagues at OmniAuto.it and this time we take a gander at a possible design for the 2017 Porsche Panamera.
Don't hold your breath for a design similar to the radical Mission E concept as the new four-door coupe from Stuttgart will retain most of the current model's design, but with a sleeker rear end which should make it look less bulky.
From what we know so far, the new Panamera will ride on the newly developed MSB platform which will make use of aluminum and high-strength steel that should enable a massive weight loss of up to 91 kg (200 lbs) which will improve not only performance but also fuel efficiency. Speaking of which, a more frugal hybrid has already been caught on camera a couple of times.
A range-topping "GT5" version is believed to be in the works after Porsche trademarked this moniker a few months back, but at the moment we don't have a confirmation about the name's use, so take this rumor with a pinch of salt. As for the regular Panameras, these will reportedly get a new range of in-house developed V6 and V8 engines with more power and fewer visits to the gas station.
Porsche has already confirmed the second-gen Panamera will go on sale in the second half of 2016 as a 2017MY.
