Euro-spec Toyota Hilux gets detailed
Toyota has introduced the new Euro-spec Hilux pickup.
Looking virtually identical to the international variant, the European model features a "Keen Look" design with a sportier front fascia and a more prominent grille that is flanked by slender headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. The truck also features a clamshell hood, muscular wheel arches and aerodynamic taillights with stabilizing fins. Other highlights include new 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior also takes a step forward as it features higher quality and a modern design. Key highlights include a new steering wheel, an improved heating and cooling system and an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display. The cabin also features metallic accents and an assortment of improvements to reduce NVH.
Under the hood, four engines will be available. Choices include:
A 2.4 D-4D with 149 PS (110 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque
A 2.5 D-4D with 102 PS (75 kW) and 260 Nm (191 lb-ft) of torque
A 2.8 D-4D with 176 PS (130 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque
A 2.7-liter petrol with 165 PS (122 kW) and 245 Nm (180 lb-ft) of torque
Depending on which engine is selected, it can be paired to either an improved six-speed manual or a new six-speed Super ECT automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard but four-wheel drive is optional.
Last but not least, the Hilux boasts a stronger chassis and several new features including Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).
