BMW 330e plug-in hybrid detailed prior to Frankfurt debut

BMW has released additional details and photos of the 330e plug-in hybrid that will be showcased ruing the 2015 IAA.

 

Based on the facelifted 3-Series sedan, the model comes with a hybrid system that consists of a 2.0-liter petrol unit with 184 PS (135 kW), supported by an electric motor with 88 PS (65 kW), mounted on the front axle. The total output stands at 252 PS (185 kW), while the peak torque reaches 420 Nm (310 lb-ft).

 

These power figures are enough for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph). BMW says the vehicle averages 1.9-2.1 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 44-49 g/km.

 

The Bavarian company also explains the hybrid vehicle can travel up to 40 km (25 miles) on fully electric mode at speeds up to 120 km/h (75 mph). The total range stands at 600 km (373 miles).
