2016 Kia Optima leaks out in European specification

The first official images of the Euro-spec 2016 Kia Optima have emerged onto the web.

 

As you can see from the attached pics, it's not exactly the same as the US-spec version unveiled back in April at the New York Auto Show as the European model comes with different front and rear bumpers and also appears to have slightly different graphics for the lighting clusters.

 

According to AutoBlog.nl, the Euro-spec Optima will be available initially with a 1.7-liter CRDi turbodiesel engine producing 141 PS (104 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) of torque sent to the front wheels through a standard 6-speed manual or an optional 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. A previous leak has indicated the availability of a hotter Optima GT which will likely employ a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine which in the US-spec Optima SX has 247 bhp (184 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque.

 

Expect an official reveal of the Euro-spec Optima to occur very soon, with a public debut set for the Frankfurt Motor Show next month while sales are programmed to kick off before the year's end.
