这辆内部编号690A的新车将采用TNGA(Toyota New Global Architecture)模块化平台,燃油经济性相比前一代车型将显著提升。
Toyota announces September 8 reveal for next generation Prius
Toyota spokesman Ryo Sakai has announced the fourth generation Prius will be introduced on September 8.
The official reveal will take place in Las Vegas and from previous spy photos we have learned the overhauled Prius will get LED headlights and a fastback body which should prove to be more exciting than the three previous models that were heavily criticized for looking too boring. It is believed Toyota will only show the hybrid version while the plug-in hybrid derivative will be out late next year.
Our spies sent us recently several images with the interior cabin which has received a complete makeover and will come with a new three-spoke steering wheel, white trim, generously-sized screen for the infotainment, along with an upper display showcasing the speedometer, gearbox indicator and details about the hybrid system.
Codenamed 690A, the new Prius will ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) and will be significantly more efficient than the model it replaces. Word on the street says electric range will increase from 11 miles (17.7 km) to 35 miles (56 km) as a result of an improved battery pack and also due to a significant weight loss.
Interestingly, the model is expected to offer an optional all-wheel drive system, but we will have to wait for an official confirmation from Toyota. The upgraded electric motor will work with a four-cylinder 1.8-liter engine which will have an increased thermal efficiency and the total output is believed to stand at 150 PS (110 kW).
Don't be too surprised if in the coming days Toyota will start a teasing campaign for the new Prius.
