Jeep Compass successor due in Geneva next year?

UK media is reporting Jeep will unveil the new Compass at the beginning of next year, before being exhibited at Geneva Motor Show in March.

 

The model in question is said to keep the Compass moniker and it will also serve as a replacement for the aging Patriot once it will go on sale in the first half of 2016. It has already been caught on camera testing as a Renegade mule and will allegedly be based on an extended variant of the Small Wide platform. As a consequence, expect the overall length to increase a little bit and in return this should enable a more spacious interior cabin, especially for those sitting in the back.

 

The engine lineup will largely be sourced from the Renegade, so depending on market there should be 1.6-, 2.0- and 2.2-liter turbodiesels along with a 1.4-liter turbo gasoline engine while a 2.0-liter turbo is also a possibility together with a larger 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder.
