Lexus RX seven-seater spied for the first time

Rumors of a seven-seat Lexus RX have been floating around for months but our spies have finally snapped the first photos of the upcoming model.

 

Designed to appease dealers who have been begging Lexus to develop a seven-seat crossover, the RX prototype has a familiar design but is several inches longer than the standard model. That may not sound like much but it's reportedly enough room to insert a third row of seats.

 

Engine options will likely carryover, so expect choices to include a 3.5-liter V6 with 300 bhp (224 kW) as well as a hybridized 3.5-liter V6 that also develops approximately 300 bhp (224 kW).

 

There's no word on when the seven-seat variant will go on sale but the standard model is slated to arrive at dealerships later this year.
