2016 MINI Clubman gets detailed

MINI has officially unveiled the 2016 Clubman, following a preview earlier today.

 

Previewed by the Clubman concept, the production model has a familiar design with four traditional doors and a split-opening tailgate. The model is also larger than its predecessor as it is 27cm longer, 9cm wider and rides on a wheelbase that spans an additional 10cm. This creates a more accommodating cabin with a larger cargo compartment which holds up to 1250 liters (44.1 cubic feet) of luggage when the rear seats are folded down.

Under the hood, three different engines will be available including a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder with 136 PS (100 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque - 230 Nm (169 lb-ft) with overboost. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 205 km/h (127 mph).

 

Buyers looking for something more powerful can opt for the MINI Cooper S Clubman which has a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine that develops 192 PS (141 kW) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque - 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) with overboost. Thanks to the extra oomph, the model can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in as little as 7.1 seconds before topping out at 228 km/h (141 mph).

 

On the diesel side, there's the MINI Cooper D Clubman which has a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine which cranks out 150 PS (110 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the car to run from 0-100 km/h in as little as 8.5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 212 km/h (131 mph).
