Subaru reveals Impreza Sport Hybrid for Japanese market

Subaru has introducing the Impreza Sport Hybrid in Japan where it will go on sale starting July 10.

 

It represents the company's second hybrid model after the 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid and promises to do 20.4 km / liter in the JC08 cycle. If we were to convert these numbers to mpg, the hybrid hatch will do 48 mpg US (57.6 mpg UK or 4.9 liters / 100 km), but keep in mind there are differences between how Japan, Europe and United States test fuel consumption so the converted numbers are not entirely representative.

 

Getting back to the Impreza Sport Hybrid at hand, it uses a four-cylinder 2.0-liter DOHC horizontally-opposed engine working together with an electric motor and a high-voltage battery pack to enable "superb driveability." Power is channeled to an all-wheel drive system exclusively through a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT).

 

It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod in 215/50 R17 and has received a slightly sportier body which includes a beefier front end, roof-mounted spoiler, LED taillights along with some interior tweaks such as the blue accents, piano black panels, metallic trim and Ultrasuede seats for the more expensive S version.

 

Subaru plans on selling around 500 units per month and they are asking 2,505,600 yen (about $20,350) for the base model and 2,635,200 yen ($21,400) for the S variant.
