Cadillac ATS-V+ could have 7.0-liter V8 engine

New details are starting to emerge about a higher performance version of the Cadillac ATS-V.

 

Almost a month ago, Cadillac's chief engineer Dave Leone hinted a hotter ATS-V is in the works and now Motor Trend is saying the model will drop the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 engine to make room for a larger LS7 7.0-liter V8 motor. In the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, the engine produces 505 bhp (377 kW) and 481 lb-ft (651 Nm) of torque, but some updates to boost output could be planned.

 

The high-power engine will allegedly work with a seven-speed manual gearbox and an eight-speed automatic transmission while a dual-clutch 'box is expected to join the range later on during the car's lifetime. The Cadillac ATS-V+ could be launched as early as the 2017MY and it will obviously be quicker than the ATS-V which sprints to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and tops out at 189 mph (304 km/h).
