Mercedes-Benz's Audi TT competitor rendered

Mercedes-Benz's rumored competitor for the Audi TT has been speculatively rendered by Theophilus Chin.

 

The model is believed to take part of an extended lineup of the next generation A-Class which will ride on an evolution of today's MFA platform. Power will come from transversely-mounted engines sending their power to the front axle or to an optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive setup.

 

Mercedes-Benz’s TT is expected to spawn a range-topping version with up to 400 bhp (298 kW) channeled to both axles through a dual-clutch 6-speed automatic transmission. It should hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in less than 4.5 seconds and reach an electronically-limited 155 mph (250 km/h), thus making it a worthy adversary of the Audi TT RS.

 

The model in question is believed to take the shape of a 2+2 coupe with a liftback layout providing access to a 350-liter trunk. There's no word about its name, but chances are it won't be called A-Class Coupe as Mercedes-Benz will likely use "SLA" or something similar.

 

If green-lighted for production, Daimler's Tourist Trophy (TT) will be out sometime in 2019.
