Honda S2000 successor rumored to use a turbocharged engine & two electric motors

According to a recent report, the Honda S2000 successor could use an advanced powertrain.

 

While nothing is official, Motoring is reporting the model will follow in the footsteps of the Acura NSX and feature a high-tech powertrain that combines a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with two electric motors. The engine would reportedly power the rear wheels, while the electric motors power the one up front. This setup would give the S2000 successor all-wheel drive as well as the potential to travel emissions free for a short distance.

 

Additional information is limited but the publication says Honda is currently considering using either a detuned version of the Civic Type-R's turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or their new turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder. The latter would reportedly produce at least 300 PS (220 kW) and be connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
