Next Ferrari V12 to eschew turbos, adopt hybrid tech

Ferrari has embraced turbocharged V8 engines but it appears their V12 engines will remain naturally aspirated.

 

Citing a company insider, Autocar is reporting the next-generation of Ferrari V12 engines will eschew turbochargers but adopt hybrid technology to improve performance and fuel efficiency. Details are limited but the magazine's source said “There will be no turbos on our V12s" but "expect instead to see 48-volt systems on the next generation.”

 

There's no word on when the new powertrains will arrive but previous reports have indicated the 2016 FF will feature a 6.3-liter V12 engine that is backed up by an electric motor. This setup is rumored to increase the output from 660 PS (486 kW) to approximately 700 PS (515 kW).
