Porsche Tesla Model S competitor comes into focus

Porsche's head of Research and Development recently downplayed the possibility of a battery electric model but a new report is contradicting his claims.

 

According to Car Magazine, the company is indeed working on electric vehicle and it is tentatively known as the 717. Additional information is limited but the car will reportedly ride on the MSB platform and be a four door, four seater with 911 styling cues.

 

Specifications are still shrouded in secrecy but the model will reportedly have two electric motors with outputs of 400 bhp (298 kW),500 bhp (372 kW) and 600 bhp (447 kW). The car is also slated to have a torque vectoring all-wheel drive system and possibly even an inductive charging system.

 

If everything pans out, the model could be launched in 2019 at the earliest.
