Sssangyong XAV concept revealed in Seoul with e-4WD system
South Korean automaker Ssangyong has just unveiled the boxy XAV concept at the Seoul Motor Show.
In recent years, we have seen a plethora of concepts from Ssangyong but unfortunately very few have materialized into a production model. We don't know what will happen with the XAV (eXciting Authentic) compact SUV concept but it does have some appeal to those preferring an old school boxy and angular shape.
Interestingly, Ssangyong says the XAV concept benefits from an e-4WD system combining a conventional 1.6-liter engine, an electric motor and lithium-ion batteries. Other details are not available at this point, but this hardware arrangement can deliver "powerful performance and superior efficiency."
The XAV concept is actually a convertible as it adopts a canvas loop and features an electronic air suspension while the wheels have been wrapped around in run-flat tires. Ssangyong has also added a smart motion control system which will modify the suspension and other characteristics based on the road conditions.
