2016 Toyota RAV4 facelift unveiled in New York

The Toyota RAV4 is only a few years old but that hasn't stopped the company from unveiling a facelifted model at the New York Auto Show.

 

Looking instantly recognizable, the crossover has a new front fascia with a slender grille, smaller headlights and an angular lower air intake. The model also has revised rocker panels, a new rear bumper and updated lift gate. Last but not least, there's restyled wheels, silver skid plates (on higher-end variants) and a revised color palette with three new colors: Silver Sky Metallic, Black Currant Metallic and Electric Storm Blue.

 

The interior features a number of minor changes including higher quality materials and additional soft touch plastics. There's also a new shifter, a sunglass holder and improved cup holders which can accommodate tall mugs with handles. Rounding out the changes are a revised instrument cluster and additional USB and V12 outlets.

 

There will also be a new SE variant which features a sportier front bumper, a revised grille and LED head- and taillights. The model also boasts a sport-tuned suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels.

 

To spruce up the cabin, designers added SofTex Seats, a black headliner and gunmetal finish trim. Additional changes are limited but there's steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters and a unique instrument cluster with red pointers.
