奔驰AMG旗下车型将逐渐淘汰5.5升V8双涡轮增压引擎。当然，这不可能在一夜之间发生，目前AMG计划推出的几款车型，包括明年发布的S63 AMG敞篷版仍将搭载这台5.5升引擎。不过，该引擎将逐渐淘汰，替代它的是新的4.0升V8双涡轮增压引擎，目前已经搭载在C63 AMG和AMG GT上。整个替换过程需要几年时间，因此在2020年前仍将出现在某些车型上。

 

Mercedes to begin phasing out the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8

According to a recent report, Mercedes is getting ready to phase out the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine that powers a number of their high-performance AMG variants.

 

This won't happen overnight as Autocar is reporting the engine will still be used to power several upcoming models including the S63 AMG Convertible which is slated to be introduced in 2016.

 

However, the engine is expected to be gradually phased and replaced by the company's new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that powers the C63 AMG and AMG GT. This isn't terribly surprising but the process could take a few years as the magazine reports the 5.5-liter V8 could still be around by the end of decade.
