吉普CEO Mike Manley近日透露,下一代牧马人将提供插电混动系统。Manley上周曾表示，牧马人将增加皮卡车型。现在这位高管又表示，新一代牧马人还将提供插电混动系统。他表示，由于电机可提供更强劲扭矩，因此对于像牧马人这类车是非常合适的。不过，他也担心目前的电池技术是否能适应复杂路况和越野行驶。他举例说，如果你想持续八个小时进行四英里越野行驶，目前任何混动系统搭配的电池都无法提供足够的电力供应。除了提供混动系统外，2018款牧马人还将提供ZF开发的八速自动变速器，柴油引擎以及更轻，气动布局更优异的车身。Manley表示，除了高刚性钢材和铝制材料外，碳纤维也将是不错的选择。同时，新车在造型风格方面不会有太大变化，必须一眼看上去仍像一辆牧马人。新一代牧马人将作为2018款车型于2017年底上市，同时新车仍将保留非承载式结构。
Jeep admits next-gen Wrangler could get hybrid setup
Jeep CEO Mike Manley says they are considering a hybrid system for the next generation Wrangler.
Earlier this week we found out from Mike Manley the all-new Wrangler could spawn a pickup derivative and now he revealed the off-roader might get a plug-in hybrid option. Speaking to British magazine Auto Express, Manley said installing an electric motor is a good idea since it provides the torque right away which is very useful for a car of this kind.
However, Manley admits there might be a problem with the Wrangler's range since the current battery technology is not on par for an off-road adventure. He went on to specify that “if you are eight hours and four miles into a trail, there is not a hybrid that we could do which could provide the battery support."
Likely getting an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler (US-spec) could get diesel engines as well as a lighter and more aerodynamic body. Manley said high-strength steel and aluminum have great potential but he also referred to carbon fiber as being an opportunity. He also said they have to be careful with the styling since the new model will have to still look like a Wrangler.
The overhauled Jeep Wrangler will likely go on sale towards the end of 2017 as a 2018MY and should retain the body-on-frame structure.
