为应对欧盟日益严格的车辆燃油经济性及尾气排放标准,宝马将采用更为“大胆”的举措——未来主要车型将以电机驱动。这就要求车辆将配备更大电池组，因此重量将相应增加。为了抵消电池增加的车重，车辆将采用轻量化平台和钢、铝和碳纤维组成的车身。当然，并不是说这些车就完全摒弃普通发动机，只是作为发电机在需要的时候为电机发电和提供辅助动力。车辆在行驶时绝大部分时间都依靠电机驱动前轮，只有在时速80公里以上时才需要引擎提供辅助动力。未来，宝马从3系到劳斯莱斯车型都将采用这种电机加引擎的驱动方式。

 

Future BMWs to be powered primarily by electric motors

BMW is reportedly preparing to take drastic action to ensure they can meet stringent European Union fuel economy and emission standards.

 

According to Autocar, the automaker will embark on a bold plan that will result in their cars being powered primarily by electrics motors.

 

This change will require the use of large batteries, so BMW will reportedly offset their weight by using lightweight platforms and bodies that use steel, aluminum and carbon fiber. The cars will still have an engine but it will reportedly act as a generator under most conditions.

 

According to the magazine's sources, the front wheels will be powered by an electric motor most of the time. However, the engine will provide assistance at speeds above 50 mph "or so."

 

While nothnig is offical, the publication is reporting the powertrain will be scalable so it can be used on everything from the 3-Series to a Rolls-Royce.
