2017 Volkswagen Phaeton will try to be more comfortable than the Mercedes S-Class

New details are starting to emerge about the next-generation Volkswagen Phaeton.

 

According to Auto Motor und Sport, the model will be launched in late 2016 or early 2017 and be the "the most comfortable car in its segment." It appears Volkswagen is taking this very seriously as the Phaeton will try to be more comfortable than the Mercedes S-Class.

 

While little is known about the car itself but the magazine says the Phaeton will have an air suspension that uses a camera and sensors to detect road imperfections and adjust the suspension accordingly to ensure a smooth ride.

 

The car is also rumored to have a semi-autonomous driving system that will enable the model to drive itself at speeds up to 60 km/h (37 mph) in town. There could also be an overtaking function but nothing is official as of yet.
