2015 Opel Corsa OPC powers into Geneva with 207 HP

Opel has introduced the 2015 Corsa OPC in Geneva, following an online reveal back in February.

 

Dressed in "flash blue" paint, Opel's latest pocket rocket is not an entirely new car taking into account the regular 2015 Corsa is basically a more substantial facelift of its predecessor rather than an all-new gen. Nevertheless, the OPC version remains very appealing thanks to the more aggressive body matched with 17-inch wheels wrapped around in 215/45 R17 Michelin tires.

 

Its heart and soul is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine generating 207 HP (152 kW) and capable of producing a peak torque of 280 Nm (206 lb-ft). Equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, the Corsa OPC will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in 6.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h). Opel says the hot supermini will consume 7.5 liters / 100 km (31.3 mpg US or 37.6 mpg UK) and emit 174 g/km of CO2.

 

For those who are not entirely satisfied with the standard car, Opel is providing an optional Performance Package bringing larger 18-inch wheels, stiffer chassis setup, Drexler mechanical multi-disc differential lock and front Brembo 330mm brakes.

 

Sales of the Opel / Vauxhall Corsa OPC / VXR are scheduled to begin in May.
