McLaren 675LT limited production confirmed; debuts in Geneva
The McLaren 675LT (Long Tail) has made its world premiere in Geneva and it's now heading into limited production series.
Only 500 units will be sold worldwide and all will come with a vast array of upgrades over the 650S Coupe upon which the 675LT is based. For example, weight has gone down by a significant 100 kg (220 lbs) to 1,230 kg (2,711 lbs) while output of the twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter has jumped by 25 HP & 22 Nm to 675 HP (496 kW) and 700 Nm (517 lb-ft) of torque.
More power combined with less weight always equals better performance so it shouldn't come as a surprise the McLaren 675LT runs the sprint in just 2.9 seconds, thus making it 0.1s quicker than the 650S Coupe. It's also half a second faster in the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) journey now completed in 7.9 seconds while the top speed has dropped by 2 mph (3.2 km/h) to 205 mph (330 km/h).
Figures aside, the McLaren 675LT adopts a long tail body as a throwback to the 1997 F1 GTR Long Tail and has received other mechanical tweaks, such as stiffer springs, recalibrated seven-speed SSG transmission, tweaked electronic stability control (ESC) system while at an additional cost it can be equipped with an optional McLaren Club Sport pack bringing a titanium roll hoop with four-point harnesses and a fire extinguisher.
Already available on order, deliveries of the McLaren 675LT are scheduled to kick off in July, with prices starting at £259,500 while the aforementioned pack is an extra £5,090.
