Geneva LIVE: Bentley Continental GT
Bentley has announced a host of updates for its Continental GT range for the new model year. The revised Continental GT made its global introduction earlier today at the Geneva Motor Show.
Although the Conti's familiar face remains, the new model has been updated with a sleeker lower bumper, smaller radiator shell and more pronounced fender arches. Those wider fenders also accommodate new vents and bright chrome badges for V8 S and W12 models.
Changes at the rear are similar in scope and include a reshaped trunk lid and a wider rear bumper. V8 S and GT Speed models also gain a new rear diffuser to help them standout as the line's performance models.
New 20- and 21-inch wheel designs and three new paint options (Marlin, Camel and Jetstream) round out the Continental's exterior changes.
The interior of the Continental GT range has been subtly upgraded with "small diamond" quilting on top Mulliner Driving Specification cars, a revised steering wheel, larger paddle shifters and new dials and graphics on the instrument panel. All interior lights have been switched to LED and the chrome surround around the car's gear lever is now finished in black. V8 and V8 S models also gain a storage compartment between the rear seats.
Continental GT V8 S, GT W12 and Speed buyers can now choose from 17 color-matched Alcantara headlining options. Onboard WiFi has also been added to the Continental's options list for the new year.
Powertrains carryover largely unchanged, but the Continental GT's 6.0L W12 has been tweaked to deliver more power and better fuel economy. Horsepower now stands at 582 (up from 567) while torque has grown from 516 lb-ft to 531 lb-ft. Despite those power gains, the twin-turbocharged W12 is now 5 percent more efficient thanks to a variable displacement system that allows the engine to run on partial throttle on just six cylinders.
Bentley's new Continental GT range will be available for order later this year.
