McLaren Sports Series to have 'well over' 500 bhp

New details are starting to emerge about the McLaren Sports Series previously referred to as the P13.

 

Power is believed to come from the familiar V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine producing "well over" 500 bhp (373 kW) all wrapped around in a package which according to Autocar will have a similar weight and size as the 650S Coupe. However, the active aerodynamics and interconnected suspension will not be implemented in the entry-level model.

 

As far as performances are concerned, the McLaren Sport Series should cover the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in less than four seconds before topping out at 180 mph (290 km/h) or more.

 

There's also going to be a track-only GT3 derivative along with a road-going grand touring variant but these two will come out later on after the coupe's (and Spider's) reveal set for April 2015 at the New York Auto Show. The starting price of McLaren's new entry-level model should stand at around ￡130,000 ($202,500 / €166,100).
