2015 Porsche 911 facelift spied, new high-performance variant in the works?

A fleet of 2015 Porsche 911 prototypes has been spied undergoing testing in Europe.

A variety of models were in the convey but one particular 911 Convertible stood out as it was equipped with a center mounted dual exhaust system. The only 911 that currently has a center mounted dual exhaust system is the GT3 but this exhaust system is different as the tips are further separated. This has raised speculation that we're looking a new variant but nothing is official as of yet.

Interestingly, Porsche 911 boss August Achleitner has previously suggested the company still has a few tricks up their sleeve. While he downplayed the possibility of a new GT2, he hinted "There are some rumors about a GT3 RS or something like this..."

Regardless of what the prototype is, the facelifted 911 will have modified bumpers and restyled lighting units.
