Volkswagen T-ROC concept will likely go into production

Volkswagen recently unveiled the T-ROC concept at the Geneva Motor Show and Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn is optimistic about a production version.

 

Speaking to Automotive News, Winterkorn said "We will ask our customers [for feedback] and I am sure they will like this car. And if they do, we will build it."His sentiments were echoed by Volkswagen's Head of Powertrain Development, Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neu?er, who called the T-ROC a logical evolution of the Golf lineup.

 

If the model is green-lighted, it would likely slot between the entry-level Taigun and the next-generation Tiguan.

 

As we have previously reported, the T-ROC concept is based on the MQB platform and features a 2.0-liter TDI four-cylinder engine that develops 184 HP (135 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-100 in 6.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph).
