大众开发部门主管Heinz-Jakob Neusser近日宣布计划推出辉腾后继车型。在经过多年的传言和猜测之后,大众终于最终证实车厂有意开发第二代辉腾以替代02年就上市的现行版车型。现行版虽然这几年经历了几次改款,但幅度都很小。很自然,新一代辉腾仍将是大众的旗舰级车型,而据Neusser介绍,该车将“成为同级领先车型”并且“造型非常顺滑,内装很豪华”。虽然辉腾市场表现一直不佳,但即便如此,大众仍认为这是一款重要车型,它采用了大量先进技术,未来可以应用于其他车型。而第二代辉腾将采用新的MLB平台,新车的很多技术也将应用于其他车型。Neusser同时表示,大众不会推出基于BlueSport概念车的紧凑型运动车。虽然他本人以及所有工程师都很喜欢BlueSport,但由于市场容量太小,因此不会投产。
Volkswagen Phaeton successor officially confirmed, BlueSport not happening
Volkswagen development chief Heinz-Jakob Neusser has announced plans to introduce a Phaeton successor.
After years of rumors and speculations, Volkswagen has finally confirmed the company's intentions for a second generation Phaeton to replace the current model which has been on sale since 2002, albeit it has received a couple of facelifts over the years. Naturally, it will sit on top of VW's range and according to development chief Heinz-Jakob Neusser it will have "to be class leading" as well as "very smooth and luxurious."
The Phaeton failed to become a sales hit but even so Volkswagen believes it has been an important model for the brand as it represented a technology flagship which allowed the German marque to develop new systems that later on arrived on lesser models. The same thing will apply for the second-gen Phaeton which will ride on the firm's upcoming MLB platform.
Neusser reiterated the company's decision not to roll out a compact sportscar inspired by the attractive BlueSport concept. Although he "personally likes the idea, as do all the engineers" it seems there isn't a business case because "the segment is so small."
