2015 Ford Expedition revealed with a EcoBoost V6 engine
Ford has officially unveiled the 2015 Expedition ahead of its debut at the DFW Auto Show in Texas.
Set to go on sale later this year, the facelifted model is distinguished by an aggressive front fascia with a revised grille that is flanked by new headlights. The SUV has also chrome exhaust tips, restyled wheels, a redesigned tailgate and optional LED fog light.
As before, two versions will be available. The standard model has a 119 inch (3022mm) wheelbase, while the Expedition EL has a 131 inch (3327mm) wheelbase.
Interior changes are relatively limited but include a new center stack and a revised instrument cluster with two LCD displays. Other highlights include ambient LED lighting, Intelligent Access (with a push-button ignition), a 10-speaker Sony audio system and a MyFord Touch infotainment system. The company also confirmed plans to introduce a range-topping Platinum variant with "buttery" leather seats and other niceties.
Power is provided exclusively by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. Ford declined to release specifications but the engine produces "at least" 370 bhp (276 kW) and 430 lb-ft (582 Nm) of torque in the 2015 Lincoln Navigator. Regardless of the final numbers, it will be connected to a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.
In the handling department, the 2015 Expedition features a new electric power-assisted steering system and an available continuously controlled damping system with three different modes: comfort, normal and sport.
