Kia to show next-generation hybrid system in Geneva

Kia has announced plans to unveil their next-generation hybrid system at the Geneva Motor Show.

 

Developed by the company's European Research and Development Center, the system consists of an undisclosed engine, a small electric motor and a 48V lead carbon battery. Detailed specifications were not released but Kia says the powertrain can drive a car in electric-only mode at low speeds and while cruising. The system also has a start/stop function and an electric supercharger that "increases torque and power at low engine speeds."
