SEAT has introduced the new Leon ST 4Drive at the Vienna Motor Show.

 

Set to go on sale in April, the model has been equipped with an all-wheel drive system that has a newly developed multi-plate clutch that "reacts extremely quickly to all conceivable drive input, thus delivering a considerable benefit in active safety and dynamics." The system sends most of the power to the front wheels but can redirect some it to the rear wheels within a "few milliseconds."

 

Under the hood, two different engines will be available. The 1.6-liter TDI produces 105 HP (77 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque which enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 12.0 seconds before hitting a top speed of 187 km/h (116 mph). In terms of efficiency, the wagon averages 4.5 L/100km (52.2 mpg US / 62.7 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 119 g/km.

 

Moving up to the 150 HP (110 kW) 2.0-liter TDI rewards buyers with a 0-100 km/h time of 8.7 seconds and a top speed of 211 km/h (131 mph). The extra oomph comes at a cost as the model averages 4.8 L/100km (49 mpg US / 58.8 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions of 124 g/km.
