Jeep 'Junior' spied in northern Scandinavia

Jeep's upcoming base model has been spied once again, this time in northern Scandinavia on a country road in the nearby vicinity of the Arctic Circle.

 

Riding on the same platform as the Fiat 500X, the Jeep Junior/Jeepster (naming yet to be announced) will be positioned as an entry-level model of compact dimensions with a short wheelbase. Although the prototype spotted here wears a full body camouflage it's still easy to see how narrow the rear doors are so sitting on the back seats could be a bit of a problem for taller people.

 

Not only will it share its architecture with the 500X but the boxy baby Jeep will actually be built by Fiat in Italy at Melfi. It could be unveiled as early as March at the Geneva Motor Show and will be sold with a choice of Fiat-sourced engines including TwinAir Turbo, MultiAir Turbo and MultiJet II motors. Both models are slated to go on sale in the second half of the year.
