2017 Porsche Cayenne to lose 100 kg
The third generation of the Porsche Cayenne is expected to come out in 2017 and will reportedly shave off as much as 100 kg (220 lbs).
We are still waiting to see the Cayenne facelift which is likely to come out late 2014 and already details about its successor have emerged. British media is reporting the third generation will arrive in 2017 when it will make the switch to Volkswagen Group's MLB platform that will also underpin the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley SUV, next Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg.
Torque vectoring by braking will be standard equipment whereas higher-spec models will receive an adjustable air suspension and PTV Plus (torque vectoring rear differential). Power will come from improved versions of today's V6 and V8s, along with a possible plug-in hybrid mixing a 4-cylinder with an electric motor.
In terms of design, the 2017 Porsche Cayenne will retain the oval headlights and will gain a Macan-style clamshell hood. The sides of the car will allegedly feature C-shaped vents and creases which will run back along the doors. Expect the taillights to adopt a more modern appearance and incorporate a light bar as seen on the appealing Panamera Sport Turismo concept.
The interior cabin won't stray away too far from today's configuration but will boast a wide array of technologies including Wi-Fi as well as various assistance systems for accelerating, braking and steering Stuttgart's SUV.
Turbo and GTS flavors will be offered for the new Cayenne which will reportedly begin from approximately 50,000 GBP (82,000 USD / 60,000 EUR) for a diesel-powered model while the Turbo S should kick off at around 115,000 GBP (188,000 USD / 138,000 EUR).
