据美国媒体报道，广州汽车集团投资440万美元(约合人民币2900万元)，在美国密歇根州底特律的法明顿希尔斯新建研发机构，扩大公司海外业务，此举将新增62份就业岗位。与此同时，广汽正在为其北美地区总部确定地址，而法明顿希尔斯新研发机构的位置对于确定总部选址影响重大。广汽位于加州硅谷的研发中心已经于去年4月投入运营，主攻先进技术研发，设计理念和产品规划。新的研发中心是其在美国设立的第二个研发中心。广汽今年年初参加了底特律汽车展(北美国际车展)，希望在2019年第四季度进入广阔的美国市场。此外，今年1月份底特律举办的北美国际汽车展中广汽传祺GS8在COBO中心亮相。为迎合美国市场需求，广汽将推出一款大型七座汽车。

 

GAC invests $ 4.4 million in new R&D facility in Detroit

Chinese automaker GAC Group is building a new research and development (R&D) facility in Farmington Hills, Michigan of the U.S., according to local media in the U.S.

 

The Guangzhou-based automaker is investing more than $4.4 million in the R&D facility in order to expand its current operation in overseas market. Reportedly, the move will create 62 local jobs.

 

GAC Group is searching for a place to locate its North American headquarters. The placement of the new R&D facility nearby Detroit's three auto giants will generate a “strong impact” on that decision, according to local media.

 

The group's R&D center in the Silicon Valley of California has gone into operation as early as April, 2017, focusing on advanced technology R&D, design ideas and product planning. The new R&D facility under construction in Michigan is the second one it plans.

 

GAC Group attended the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year with an ambitious plan to enter the U.S. market in the fourth quarter of 2019. Meanwhile, the Trumpchi GS8, a SUV model being sold in China under GAC Group's self-owned brand Trumpchi, was showcased at the Cobo center and is expected to be the first model entering the United States. To meet American users’ demand for SUVs, the company will step into the U.S. market with a large-sized 7-seat model.
