2019 Maserati Levante GTS Debuts At Goodwood FoS With 550 HP

Maserati has introduced the 2019 Levante GTS on the opening day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The V8-powered model slots between the S and the range-topping Trofeo variants.

 

The GTS receives a de-tuned version of the Trofeo's twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter V8 engine. Built by Ferrari, it makes 550 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 538 pound-feet of torque between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm. The eight-cylinder spins the Levante's four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.Maserati notes the Levante GTS takes 4.2 seconds to reach 62 mph from a stop. It doesn't stop accelerating until the speedometer shows 180 mph. Inside, the Levante GTS offers standard leather upholstery, a 14-speaker sound system, and sport pedals. Buyers can order full-grain Pieno Fiore leather at an extra cost.

 

The GTS also ushers in an array of new features -- some standard, some optional -- that will spread to the entire Levante range. The list includes Integrated Vehicle Control technology which helps keep the car pointed in the right direction even on slippery surfaces. Maserati already offers IVC on the Ghibli and the Quattroporte. European-spec models also receive optional Matrix-beam headlights.

 

The 2019 Maserati Levante GTS will reach American showrooms in the coming months. The firm hasn't announced pricing information yet. When it arrives, it will compete in the same segment as the 541-horsepower Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
