Spied: 2020 Kia Telluride

Kia's upcoming Telluride full-size SUV has been spotted undergoing shakedown testing in Arizona. The latest spy shots indicate that the styling of the production Telluride will stray from the design language laid out by the concept car of the same name.

 

Whereas the Telluride concept, which debuted at the 2016 Detroit auto show, had a large, upright grille and horizontal headlights, the Telluride prototype spotted today is clearly sporting a narrower grille and vertical front lights. There's also a new air vent poking out from the side of the SUV's front bumper.Out back it's difficult to get a clear view of what's going on, but it appears as though the Telluride concept's vertical taillights will make it through to production. Given the odd shape of the prototype's rear camouflage, it's also possible that the concept's three-dimensional tailgate will make production.

 

The Telluride will likely be based on a stretched and widened version of the chassis that underpins the Kia Sorento. The Telluride will offer three-rows of seating and sit atop Kia's SUV lineup. Power could come from a V6-hybrid setup with more than 400 horsepower. The Telluride will offer all-wheel drive and could top 30mpg in highway driving.Kia will build the Telluride at its plant in West Point, Georgia. Look for the Telluride to debut in either late 2018 or early 2019 before going on sale later next year as a 2020 model.
