2018 Aston Martin Vantage Packs 503 HP In A Lighter, Sexier Body
Aston Martin has introduced the brand-new V8 Vantage online a few days before its scheduled debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Vantage stands out from the DB11 with a softer design largely inspired by the DB10 showcased in the 2015 James Bond movie Spectre. It gets swept-back headlights positioned on a lower front fascia and a grille that's much wider than before.
The movie car's side gills carry over to the production version with a more muscular shape, as do the ultra-thin tail lamps. The look takes Aston's design language in a new, less Ford-like direction.
Power comes from a 4.0-liter V8 engine borrowed from Mercedes-AMG and tuned to develop 503 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 505 pound-feet of torque from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm.
In the Aston, it sends its power to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission manufactured by ZF. The Vantage's German mechanical heart sends it from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 195 mph. The quick, precise steering gives the Vantage Teutonic precision on twisty roads; it's not just a grand tourer anymore.
The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage is on sale now with a base price of $149,995. Deliveries will begin in the second quarter of the year. V12-powered and roadster variant will join the line-up a little later in the production run.
