Toyota Concept-i Ride Heading To Tokyo With Gullwing Doors
Toyota has expanded its range of Concept-i models, previewing two small vehicles that will be heading to Tokyo to join the original concept that was revealed at CES.
The Concept-i Ride is an electric two-seater that appears to be just a few inches longer than a Smart Fortwo. It has been designed to achieve "user-friendly city mobility," with gull-wing doors and joystick controls.
The company suggests the seat layout and automated driving functions enable the vehicle to be used by anyone, including wheelchair users.
Two riders can expect to travel for 62 to 93 miles on a single charge, far shorter than the nearly 200-mile range of the existing four-seat Concept-i EV.
The Walk is a Segway-like three-wheel scooter designed to accommodate the need for 'last mile' transportation after a car is parked but the driver or riders are still not quite to their final destination.
All these Concept-i vehicles envision a cloud-connected artificial intelligence system that estimates driver preferences, or alternative routes as potential detours.
The Concept-i series will be presented to the public for the first time in Tokyo later this month.
