Once it goes on sale in December 2017, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will hold a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $34,595 without destination.

The Outlander PHEV offers seating for five passengers and room for their gear, 1500-lb towing capability, SUV practicality and a fantastic Super All-Wheel Control system, all wrapped in an environmentally friendly EV system.

 As you heard the man, the Outlander PHEV features all-wheel-drive thanks to two electric motors (one at the front, one at the rear) and a 2.0-liter gasoline-fed engine for non-electric driving. The 12 kWh battery, meanwhile, consists of 80 cells and boasts 300 volts. Positioned beneath the passenger compartment subfloor, the small battery supports DC fast charging.

Priding itself on a combined 195 horsepower, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV for the U.S. market comes with no less than six drive modes. In no particular order, these are EV (electric only), Parallel Hybrid (electric motors used only when necessary), Series Hybrid (uses the ICE as a generator to charge the battery), Eco Mode, Battery Save Mode, and Battery Charge Mode.
