2017-2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC Rated IIHS Top Safety Pick+
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded its highest honor, the Top Safety Pick+ designation, to the 2017 and 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class crossover.

The midsize luxury SUV earned 'good' ratings in every crash category, with a superior-rated front crash prevention system and available 'good' headlights.

In the small-overlap impact, the seatbelt allowed excessive forward movement and the dummy's head rolled to the left. The side curtain airbag deployed, however, and effectively prevented any impact with the A-pillar.

Three different headlight ratings were given, with only the Advanced Lighting package's LED projectors worthy of top honors. The lesser LED Headlamps and Taillamps package -- still an upgrade option -- earned an 'acceptable' rating, while the base model's halogen reflectors were considered 'marginal.'
