McLaren has revealed a test mule for its next flagship Ultimate Series model, expected to serve as a spiritual successor to the company's iconic F1.

Known by the development monicker BP23, the early test mule is currently shrouded in a 720S body. Images show the most striking difference, however, with a centrally positioned driver seat that revives the F1's 1+2 layout.
Full details are being kept quiet, but McLaren promises the BP23 will be its "fastest ever." Next year marks two decades since the F1 crushed rivals with a 240-mph run. The recent P1 is electronically limited to 217 mph.

The BP23 will have a hybrid powertrain, likely employing two electric motors to drive the front wheels.

Only 106 units will be released, each manufactured by McLaren Special Operations with a seven-figure price tag.
