IIHS: New Toyota Camry leads midsize segment in safety ratings
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has praised the 2018 Toyota Camry for its across-the-board 'good' ratings in every assessment category, earning Top Safety Pick Plus honors for the fourth year running.
The TSP+ title requires top marks in the small overlap, moderate overlap, side, roof strength and head restraints tests, along with an 'advanced' or 'superior' rating for crash prevention and 'acceptable' or 'good' headlights.
"Among midsize cars that meet those criteria, the 2018 Camry stands at the top," the institute said. "Its standard front crash prevention system is rated superior, and its best headlights are rated good."
The 2018 Subaru Legacy is not far behind, though its best-performing emergency braking system is not a standard feature.

目前长安自主品牌乘用车布局有重庆、北京、合肥三个生产基地。长安汽车斥资4.39亿元对北京工厂进行改造,工厂年产能由20万辆增至36万辆,投产多款新能源车型。北京工厂为长安汽车旗下高端工厂,主要生产CS75、CS95等车型。根据长安汽车之前计划,将推出CS75PHEV车型。北京工厂改造完成后有望生产此款车型。新能源乘用车调整升级产业创新建设项目总投资4.39亿元,扩建面积6,255平方米。此项目地址位于北京长安公司现有厂区内,通过扩建现有新能源及试制车间等实现,其中包括新增工艺设备205台/套,新增工作人员500人,并对现有冲压、焊装、涂装、总装四个工艺环节进行技术改造,提高生产效率。项目完工后,可实现新增16万辆/年的新能源汽车产能,使北京工厂年产能提升至36万辆。目前长安旗下新能源布局有新逸动EV、新奔奔EV等车型。根据规划,长安汽车还将加速新能源车型推出的脚步,将陆续推出逸动PHEV、CS15EV以及CS75PHEV等产品。项目改造完成后,新增16万产能或用于生产CS75PHEV等车型。此前长安汽车规划推出大SUV的新能源车型,新车或为CS95 PHEV,未来有望在此工厂生产。
Changan Beijing factory’s annual output doubles to 360,000 units, covering many electric vehicles
Currently, Changan self-independent passenger vehicles have three production bases in Chongqing, Beijing and Hefei. It’s known that Changan Auto will invests RMB 439m to reconstruct Beijing factory, and the annual capacity will increase to 360,000 units from 200,000 units, covering many alternative energy vehicle models. As a high-end factory of Changan Auto, Beijing factory mainly produce CS75, CS95 and other models. According to its previous plan, it will also launch CS75 PHEV model.
The industrial innovation project for adjustments and upgrading of alternative energy passenger vehicles has a total investment of RMB 439m, with an area of 6,255 square meters. It contains the newly-added processing equipment of 205 units per package, and another 500 employees will also be needed. Four technical procedures including stamping, welding, painting and assembling will be upgraded to promote production efficiency. The annual capacity will increase 160,000 units to 360,000 units after the project is completed.
Currently, Changan Auto has alternative energy vehicles including New Eado EV and New Benni EV. According to plan, Changan Auto will accelerate to launch other models including Eado PHEV, CS15 EV and CS75 PHEV. The newly-added 160,000 units’ capacity may be used to produce CS75 PHEV model. CS95 PHEV model is also expected to be produced in the factory.
